Flash Forward Incubator 2024

This year’s theme Shadow and Light proposes an exploration of the profound interplay between two elemental forces that permeate our existence.

These contrasting elements, inherently dualistic in nature, invite us to contemplate the fundamental dichotomies that shape our world: order and chaos, individualism and collectivism, local and global, knowledge and ignorance, nature and technology. They serve as potent metaphors and symbols, rich in cultural, artistic, and philosophical significance.

Light, with its ability to illuminate and reveal, can evoke feelings of warmth and hope, while shadow, with its capacity to obscure and conceal, lends an air of mystery and contemplation. These two elements become storytellers in their own right, guiding us through the ever-shifting landscapes of human experience, and highlight complex societal debates that shape our personal beliefs, values and choices.

Beyond the canvas and the frame, the theme of shadow and light finds resonance in our personal lives and in the broader context of culture and society. It influences how we perceive reality, how we navigate the intricacies of our emotional landscape, and how we construct meaning from the interplay of these opposing forces.

Ultimately, the exploration of shadow and light is an invitation to delve deeper into the complexities of existence, to question our perceptions, and to gain a profound appreciation for the enduring significance of these elemental forces in shaping our world and our understanding of it.
