A Fond Farewell
It’s hard to believe that 15 years ago, we stuck our necks out for emerging artists and made the global arts community pay attention.
Flash Forward Emerging Artists’ Competition has been a staple of The Magenta Foundation, as we watched more than 2,000 photographers get their biggest break from the recognition of simply having “Flash Forward Winner” on their resumés and websites. The pride we feel knowing we have helped catapult burgeoning careers goes way beyond what we thought this program could do, and for that, we will be forever grateful. The trust our global community instilled in this program made it a world-class competition.
But we have come to an end of this particular journey. It is time for this trail-blazing program to have a new face and a new direction. And as we are unclear of what that should be, we are taking a hiatus to uncover other important and overlooked gaps in the lives of artists worldwide.
It goes without saying that there are TOO MANY people to thank for their commitment to Flash Forward over the years. All the jurors, photographers, media outlets, galleries, festivals, advertising agencies, art directors and many more, who have taken the Top 100 list each year and made use of the artists we deemed worthy of attention. We owe them a great deal of gratitude for always being champions of the program.
It has been a tremendous experience for everyone and we are so grateful for all the love and support. Without you, our sponsors, our global arts community and emerging artists everywhere, we would never have seen what this little program could do for the life of an artist.
