The Magenta Foundation announces $10,000 grant with Flash Forward 2016

(TORONTO–JANUARY 4, 2016)

The Flash Forward Emerging Photographers Project Grant announced today by The Magenta Foundation is for all photographers who already meet the criteria of the Flash Forward program and need seed money to continue working on their projects. Interested and qualified emerging photographers need to apply for inclusion in Flash Forward 2016 by January 15, 2016

Magenta has always been proud of everything Flash Forward has accomplished for emerging artists. And now the trailblazing program continues to invest in artists who have talent and need support and encouragement to continue their work. The most lasting achievement of the program is all the talent that has come through in what we call The Flash Forward Family. These artists have built formidable careers—thanks to the launching pad nature of the program, which helps bring attention to the work they do. Artists such as Andrew Rowat, Donald Weber, Dominic Nahr, Simon Roberts, Melissa Gibson, Spencer Murphy, Matt Eich, Jenn Ackerman, Lucas Foglia and many, many others, are the true testament to this world-class program and how it has helped encourage and empower emerging artists at the beginning of their careers. Watching them grow and prosper has been a true honour.

The Flash Forward Emerging Photographer Project Grant is for all those artists who need the monetary funds to continue their projects, longer term, or to help them finish what they have been working on. This extended prizing is fully in line with Flash Forward’s original mandate to be a program that invests in artists, though recognition, publication, exhibitions, social media and acknowledgement in every possible way.

Follow this link to submit https://www.magentafoundation.org/flash-forward/. Everyone must fall under the criteria of Flash Forward. There will now be three prizes, plus a high-end publication, touring exhibitions, a festival in Boston and all the accolades that come from our program now and in the future.

We wish everyone the best of luck. Thank you for always inspiring us to work harder to bring your talent and work to a larger global audience.

Sincerely,
MaryAnn Camilleri

Flash Forward Emerging Photographer Project Grant: $10,000

In the continuance of Flash Forward and its proactive leadership on artist encouragement and support, this grant will enable all photographers, in all mediums, to fulfill the goal of a larger scale of project. This monetary grant is for ALL photographers who need the essential seed money to work on long-term projects in progress.

Criteria

  • Money goes toward projects that are in progress and not completed.
  • Funds are to assist photographers and help them fulfill their vision.
  • All types of photography are welcome, including documentary, photojournalism, fine art, digital mixed-media, etc.
  • Also included in prizing is a chapter in the next Flash Forward publication. The selected winner of this grant and the work in progress will be highlighted.

How It Works

All photographers who submit to Flash Forward will be considered. Those who already submitted are also part of this award judging process.

Five semi finalists will be contacted and asked questions about their work, after which a winner will be chosen.

The competition catalogue will include a chapter dedicated to the selected project and its progress in the 2016 year and the following year.

Thank You

The Magenta Foundation would like to extend their gratitude to TD Bank Group for jumping into 2016 with us and helping us create another exciting opportunity for emerging photographers.
