After the resounding success of our Toronto exhibition and publication—Joy, Sorrow, Anger, Love, Pride—the Magenta Foundation is thrilled to announce our expansion of this project that promises to ignite hearts from coast to coast. Our mission is to honor love in all its glorious forms while shining a spotlight on the rich tapestry of Canadian Pride history.
We are launching a campaign to raise funds for the FIRST ever NATIONAL Exhibition and Publication of Pride 1970 to Present. The money raised will help us compensate our nationwide curatorial MFA students. By expanding this project to every province, and celebrating love in all its forms, we will continue to nurture and empower our emerging curatorial team, endowing them with a deeper understanding and greater responsibility to carry forward the vital work they have initiated and fulfill their mission.
The advancement of this project will ensure that valuable Pride materials are preserved and accessible to the Canadian LGBTQ2+
community nationwide, fostering a deeper understanding of the history and significance of pride across the country.
Why are we continuing this project?
A nationwide project celebrating the origins of Pride to the present day has never been produced on this scale nor seen in this context. It will be the first look at this important movement from the LGBTQ2+ community.
Elevating Emerging Talent: Our commitment to nurturing and empowering our burgeoning curatorial team remains unwavering. We’re equipping them with profound insights and greater responsibilities to carry forward the vital work they’ve initiated, ensuring our legacy is one of inclusivity and empowerment.
