Privacy Policy

The Magenta Foundation is governed by and abides by the laws of Canada with regard to personal information and privacy, specifically the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Privacy Act.

Data Collection

At present, we collect personal information from artists submitting their work via forms on our web site (www.magentafoundation.org), and this information is then stored in a PostgreSQL database on our web server. The information collected is as follows:

  • Name
  • Contact information, including mailing address, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail and web addresses.
  • Biographical information

This information, along with the samples of artwork submitted, is used to review artists and their work and to select those who will be featured in our books, and to contact those chosen for selection. The public does not have access to this database; only our staff and editors, and the technical staff at our web host, can access it.

Once the selection has been made, a limited version of the database, not containing contact information apart from web and e-mail addresses, will be made available to the public via our web site.

Privacy

At no time will any of the artists’ mailing addresses or phone numbers be made public, and we will never sell, rent or give our contact database to any other company or organization.

Information will be retained indefinitely unless the individual it concerns requests that it be deleted. At any time any artist in the database may contact us to change or remove their information.

We also collect names and e-mail addresses for our announcement list via the signup form that appears on several of our pages. This information is used only to send out periodic news and announcements and is never shared with anyone. Anyone who subscribes to the list may unsubscribe at any time using the same signup form, and their information will be immediately deleted from the list.

Enforcement

Enforcement of this policy is the responsiblity of the Director of Information Technology, who shall be the Magenta Foundation’s Privacy Officer under the law.

This policy may be updated and revised from time to time as our projects and activities change. The current version will always be available on this web site.
