Governing Law

The Magenta Foundation is governed by and abides by the laws of Canada with regard to personal information and privacy, specifically the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Privacy Act.

Data Collection

Competition Submissions
At present, we collect personal information from artists submitting their work to our Flash Forward Competition throguh submittable.com. The information collected is as follows:

  • Name and contact information (including mailing address, phone number, e-mail, and web addresses)
  • Biographical information

This information, along with the samples of artwork submitted, is used to review artists and their work by our jurors, to contact the winning artists, and the biographical information provided is also featured in the competition catalogues.

Newsletter
The Magenta Foundation also collects e-mail addresses for our newsletter updates, via the signup form that appears on several of our pages. This information is used only to send out periodic news and announcements and is never shared with anyone.

Privacy

At no time will any of the artists’ mailing addresses or phone numbers be made public, and we will never sell, rent or give our contact database to any other company or organization. Information will be retained indefinitely unless the individual it concerns requests that it be deleted. At any time any artist may contact us to change or remove their information.

Anyone who subscribes to our newsletter may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of all Magenta News emails, and their information will be immediately deleted from the list.

Enforcement

Enforcement of this policy is the responsibility of the Director of Information Technology, who shall be the Magenta Foundation’s Privacy Officer under the law.

This policy may be updated and revised from time to time as our projects and activities change. The current version will always be available on this web site.
