Hello Magenta Foundation friends,

Here’s hoping February is off to a great start for all of you. We’re already busy as can be starting the month with an announcement regarding Magenta POP: Pittsburgh. It’s a Call for Entries for Pittsburgh Portrait Photographers. And did we mention it is a FREE and OPEN call for submissions? Please do take a moment to encourage eligible artists to submit.

Here is the our criteria (re-iterated on our page: magentafoundation.org/popups/pop-2016-call)

1. This is a Call for Submissions for all photography students, emerging photographers and professional photographers from the Pittsburgh region. Photographers from the following counties are eligible to apply: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland.
2. We will accept the following types of portraits: Street, Environmental, Conceptual, Groups and Couples, Selfies, Self-Portraits, Constructed Images, and Alternative Processes
3. This is a PORTRAIT photography show, so please submit images related to this topic. Anything else will be disqualified.

Head over here for instructions on how to submit.

On that note, we are so happy to welcome the enormous talent of Philip Prodger, Head of Photographs of the National Portrait Gallery in the United Kingdom, who will curate Magenta POP: Pittsburgh’s Spring 2016 Group Exhibition. The exhibition will open April 22, 2016, at 937 Liberty Avenue, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Gallery Crawl, and end May 21, 2016.

A big thanks of course goes out to our partners Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership  and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

Happy February!
